Backlink Optimization

Backlinks are those links that are found on other websites that link back to yours. Backlinks are a way of determining your website's popularity. Meaning if there are a lot of quality websites linking to yours, then chances are that your website has some significance.

Backlink optimization is one of the harder aspects of SEO since you do not have direct control over it. Unless your website is already popular, you are going to have give people a reason to link to yours. Either you specifically request a link be put on their site or you have a certain tool/product that is worth linking to on their own accord. Once other sites begin linking to yours, it could take 6 to 8 months before a search engine like Google will recognize it.

Here is our growing list of recommended principles to follow for backlink optimization. All these rules come from extensive research and have been implemented in our Professional SEO Tool. Rather than optimizing your backlinks manually, our tool will analyze your backlinks and give you specific optimization suggestions to perform that are specific to a page. Exact Matches within Anchor Text

Although anyone linking to your site can be beneficial, it is even more beneficial if they link to your site using your exact keyword phrase. For example, if your keyword phrase is "soda drinks", then a link using this anchor text is more meaningful than a link that just says "Dan's site". Having an external site that identifies your site with the same keyword phrase that you use further confirms to a search engine the theme of your site.
